The fish are out there. Good action has been reported off of Gwynns Island @ Deep Rock and at the Rappahannock River Bridge & Carters Creek (White Stone Side). The larger fish are still coming from Dankworth. Try life-size rainbow trout swimbaits fished along the reeds for monster bass ready to ambush their next meal. From the docks at the campground night fishing for cats is very productive too. Things have been slow inside many of the rivers, but the Elizabeth River has been giving up some keepers. Redear fishing with nightcrawlers around submerged grass beds is producing some quality fish over 2lbs. Stained water conditions from monsoon runoff has slowed the striper bite considerably, but fish are still available for anglers that put in the work, and get a little lucky! Work primary and secondary points where schooling smallies move up to chase shad or feed on crawdads.
